The '''''Koraami II'' class medium freighter''' is a medium-sized transport spaceship in service in ''United Systems Fleet'' since 2152. It's manufactured on ''Dairoadai'', a moon of planet ''Yereidiao'' in ''Tau Ceti'' system.  

== Service History ==
Service history of this type is very dramatic. Predecessoor of this type - ''Koraami I'' class was a very efficient ship, until it was attacked by an enemy ship. Lack of experience with armed ships led yereidian manufacturers to another solution - adding a tiny hangar for a small escort fighter. So the Koraami II class was constructed. Since then, all transport ships of this class are gathered in convoys. If an enemy attack the convoy, the escort fighters are released to protect the convoy.

The production continued without any problems until 2167, when all production of Koraami II class was stopped due to a succesful attack of ''The Great Confraternity''. The production couldn't continue untill late 2168. For example, the ''USTS Avalaade'' was laid down in 2166, but finished in 2169, while in normal conditions the construction would take a little less than one year.

Koraami II class has become a traditional synonyme for a medium cargo ship. The production is expected to be stopped in a few years. Plans for it's replacement are still unknown.

== Design ==

It is a typical transport ship for periodic interstellar convoy haulage. It's cargo is loaded in standart containers compatible with another types of yereidian ships. The hull consists of command section, engineering section and saucer-section with hangar and crew quarters. It is capable of FTL travel. It has no protective shielding. It's protection depends on a fighter spacecraft hidden in a small hangar in the aft part of the ship. In convoys, a large group of escort fighters can be carried this way.
