Sponde (Jupiter XXXVI, S/2001 J 5) is a retrograde satellite of Jupiter. It was discovered by Scott Sheppard et al at the Mauna Kea Observatories in Hawaii in December 2001. It is named for one of the Horae, a goddess of the seasons in Greek mythology.

Sponde in Orbiter

Sponde was first introduced into Orbiter with the add-on jupiter_v.zip in August 2003. Note that in jupiter_v.zip Sponde is provided by the add-on as S/2001-J 11. To simulate it as Sponde, the following changes need to be made.

  • File:S2001_J5.cfg:
    • change the filename to Sponde.cfg
    • change the name in the comment line in the top line to Sponde (S/2001-J5, Jupiter)
    • line 3, change NAME = to Sponde
    • Last line, change the name of Base1 = to Sponde
  • File:S2000J5-Station.cfg
    • change the filename to Sponde-station.cfg
    • Line 3, change the name to Sponde-Station
  • File:Jupiter_S2001J5.scn
    • change the filename to Jupiter-Sponde.scn
    • Line 2, change S2000J5 Station to Sponde Station
    • Find the GL-01 ship, change STATUS Landed S2001-J5 to Landed Sponde
    • Change BASE S2001J5-Station:1 to Sponde-Station:1
  • File:S2001-J5.tex, change filename to Sponde.tex
  • File:S2001-J5M.BMP, change filename to SpondeM.BMP
