Hawking class research ship
General facts
Hawking class is a design of a big science ship for service in United Systems Fleet since 2169. It's designed as a very modern ship equipped with advanced on-board laboratories as well as very effective defence systems. The ship's hangar can support up to three small spacecrafts. It's powerful engines make the ship one of the fastest ships in fleet.
Service History
A project of big and fast research ship appeared in 2164 after a lot of new technologic improvements were introduced during development of the Praeon class battleship. In 2166 the works started. In 2169 the prototype was ready. It's relation to Praeon class is obvious. A few months ago the USRS Hawking came into service. It's great abilities were tested on a short scientific mission in Epsilon Eridani system. The defence systems were never used yet, but power of ten automatic medium cannons is expected to be very impressive.
