The Sun can be edited by changing values in Sun.cfg found in the Config folder, or by editing the Star.dds texture found in the Textures folder.

Most third-party Sun add-ons are texture changes and/or replacements, where the most popular is "Another Sun Texture v2" [1] by user "McWoggs".

It is also possible to place a planet very close to the Sun, giving the Sun an illusion of 3D, which allows the creation of Sun spots and giving it rotation. This has been done in "3D Sun" [2] by user "DagoO".
