COMNAV MFD

COMNAV MFD is an Multi-functional Display mode which allows control of the ship's navigation receivers which provides data to various other MFD modes and navigation instruments. With COMNAV, the pilot may select the frequency for each receiver. The text for the active receiver is yellow. The receiver can detect transponder signals from other vessels, bases, landing pads, the ILS transponders for runways, and VOR transmitters. Select COMNAV MFD mode by selecting it in the desired MFD mode selection page.

The display in the MFD contains two sections:

  • The NAV receivers NAV1 through NAV4, which lists the frequency of navigation radios which receive signals from VOR and ILS beacons and transponders of other ships.
  • Transponder status, which shows the ship's transponder transmitting frequency. Other ships may adjust their receivers to receive your transponder signal.
  • The frequency of the transmitter and receivers can be changed in increments of 1 MHz and 0.05 MHz using the buttons or hot keys in accordance with the table above from 85 MHz to 140 MHz or by scanning for active signals within that range. If there is an active signal received, the display will indicate data about the source.
  • Some MFD modes can be slaved to the NAV receiver to indicate data or used with an autopilot.
  • Object Info (Ctrl+I), Navaid info (CTRL+N), and Map MFD mode can be used to get frequencies for transmitters within range such as VOR and ILS beacons and vessel transponders.
