EOS station
The EOS station(or Earth Orbital Station) is a large orbital facility on geostationary orbit of the Earth, which serves as the headquarters of the Earth sector of the United Systems Fleet,a communication node, a big spacedock for the fleet, an extensive scientific centre and a living site for fleet stuff.
Service history[edit]
In the early years of the 22nd century, there was many separated USF stations and facilities on the Earth's orbit. The problem was, that every single one of them was vulnerable. In worries of possible future Denerothian attacks aimed to paralyze the United Systems Fleet through destroying those stations one by one, A decision to build one big and well-protected station was made.
The works begun on the 1. January 2113. A big, ten-kilometer station started to grow. There was no way to hide such a big construction site. The only way was to secure it from the very beginning. The first completed part of the station was a super-large shield generator, which was able to generate so big powerfield, that no weapon of that time could penetrate it. Under this great protection, the works could continuously advance through the years. The generator was built with a possibility of easy modifications, so the shield could keep up with advancing firepower of the weapons. In 2141, a secondary generator was built into the secondary part of the station's hull. In 2148, though still unfinished, the station was already able to maintain most of it's proposed functions. The entire huge structure was finally completed on the 15th November 2152. Since than it serves as an undestroyable home base of the United Systems Fleet in Earth sector. Even other systems own or are building a station like this one.
Design[edit]
The station consists of two main parts: The primary hull, which is a ten-kilometer disc, constitutes a heart of the station. It contains USF-Earth headquarters, communication devices for contact with the rest of the Coalition, a huge scientific centre, as well as four big hangars for small or even middle-sized ships. The disc also provides a lot of lifespace for thousands of fleet stuff. The the main part - the super-large shield generator with it's auxiliary devices and engineering - is placed right in the middle of the structure.
The secondary hull is a spacedock for ships of any size. It can fully support up to 40 capital ships simultaneously. In the centre of the secondary hull there's the second super-large shield generator. (Orbiter only supports 16 docking ports, so only 8 are available in the secondary section.)
Both parts of the station are connected with a cylindric neck. This neck contains some of the crew quarters and mainly a lot of various connections and vertical lifts.

Shields[edit]
Shields are powered by a twin of super-large shield generators in both primary and secondary part of the station, and held together by series of emitters and energetic rails along the entire hull. The emmited energetic shield is strong enough to prevent the station from impossible numbers of any known weapons used against it. The shield generators are never turned off. They can be stopped only by inserting one hundred special keys held by one hundred high officers of the fleet and top politicians simultaneously. This prevents the station from an unauthorised shutdown. Anyway, there has never been a reason to shut the shield generators down yet.
